The shelf on our EGW Higher Mag Catch is .020 higher, to hold the magazine higher in the frame.

Guns that have issues with nose dives will benefit from the higher mag placement (provided there is a small gap between the magazine and the frame in the front). The result is better feeding with 8 round 45 mags and hollow points.

The higher mag catch is checkered for better grip.

This part is NOT MIM or CAST.

HD Higher Mag Catch
Just received the HD Higher Mag Catch. Don't know if it will help solve the problem I was having, but it is an excellent part.

It may be the perfect mag catch. The fit is superb and the finish is flawless.

I've seen and handled many 1911 mag catches, but I've never seen anything this good.

Exactly what my 1911 needed
My Desert Eagle 1911 had trouble feeding from some mags (nose dives, failure to fully chamber) and in the process of troubleshooting I noticed that there was a pretty substantial gap between the bottom of the grip and the baseplate of the mag. I tried firing while applying pressure to the bottom of the mag - effectively seating it higher - and all the problems went away. The EGW Higher mag catch accomplished the same thing, the mags seat correctly and the feeding problems have not shown back up.

The catch itself is of very high quality manufacture. It required just a tiny bit of fitting during installation (as any 1911 part should) and after about 10 minutes with a jeweler's file and some sandpaper it installed perfectly and is a precision fit. I'm very happy with this part and wholeheartedly recommend it if you have a 1911 that has feeding problems from "low seated" magazines.

HD Higher Mag Catch
This is hands down the best and easiest way to resolve feeding problems in so many 1911 based pistols. I use the mag catch exclusively for every pistol I build. I have been able to resolve feeding / function problems on so many 22 conversions using the part. It is my go to for a magazine release, period!
